Located on the Alabama/Florida state line, the Florala State Park stretches along the beautiful shores of Lake Jackson.  With a modern lakeside campground, swimming, fishing, picnicking, paddleboat rentals and a complete community building, this Alabama State Park has much to offer inside its compact 40 acres. If you’re looking for a great place to camp during those harsh northern winters, The Florala State Park provides the perfect climate.

If you decide to visit during the summertime, there is an annual Florala Arts & Craft Show held in the park, usually on the last Saturday in June. The City of Florala also happens to be host to the Worlds oldest Masonic Celebration, taking place the last full week of June, also referred to by locals as the June 24th celebration. Feel free to join in the festivities, including the Lake Jackson Cruisers Car Show, music & wrestling on the square, horse shoe tournament, gospel sing, adult water battle, parade through beautiful downtown Florala, beauty contest, bass tournament, children’s events at Lake Jackson State Park, old time heritage demonstration, fireworks over beautiful Lake Jackson and a street dance behind Tyner Station Depot.

The Florala State Park provides 28 campsites that each include 50 amp electrical service, water, sewage, picnic table and grill. There is a modern bathhouse with coin operated laundry facilities located in the campground, as well as a large pavilion available for campers on a first come first serve basis. For visitor convenience, a boat launch in also located in the campground area.

Within the quaint little City of Florala, one can easily find Victorian-style mansion, several antique shops, two art galleries, a Southern style family cooking restaurant featuring a large family style buffet, and a Bed and Breakfast for overnight accommodations. Another fun activity close to the area is the Worlds Domino Tournament, taking place during July in Andalusia, Alabama.

Considered one of the cleanest and clearest bodies of water in the state, Lake Jackson supports fishing, boating, swimming and water-skiing. Fishermen hoping to catch the big one will want to use the boat launch and piers for water access. The day use area includes a 1.4 mile bicycle/pedestrian trail that stretches from the campgrounds to the City Wetlands Park and to the Old Depot. After your journey, take a break and have a picnic alongside the 200-foot pier, while the kids run around on the playground. There are also several picnic pavilions available for rent by reservation. Don’t forget to throw on those bathing suits and take in some rays on the sandy beach before you leave the Florala State Park.
